Comments: Charlie is an 80 pound 3-5 year old Lab-mix. Charlie came to the Kennel because he was abandoned by his family. The staff immediately took to his exceptional temperment. Sadly for Charlie he did test positive for heartworms, but thanks to the Friends of the City Kennel, Charlie has completely recovered from his heartworm treatment, and in really great shape. Charlie is an excellent companion. He has such a vibrant personality and loves his human friends, especially the ladies. He is a little shy of some men, but with a little patience, Charlie can be won over with kindness and food. Charlie is often seen with staff on walks through the Ohio Canal and towpath. So often on these long walks, Charlie is complimented on how perfect he walks in the heel position and how polite he is when bikers and other dogs go by. He has learned to sit each time a dog walks by. Of course everyone always comments on how handsome he is. Litlle do they know poor Charlie doesn't even have a home. He is a great running partner too, he can do 4 miles so far (only because his human friend tires out). Charlie would make a great companion for someone who loves the outdoors, especially someone who takes advantage of our city's great Metropark and towpath trails. Charlie is a great swimmer and enjoys his weekly outings to Edgewater. He would love a beach buddy to take him swimming and throw the tennis ball for hours. He is in excellent shape, but when play time is over he loves to relax by your feet or curl up on his favorite dog bed. He is good with the resident cats and is submissive to his female dog friend, Mayze, who is a cocker spaniel. He loves the car and is always looking for someone to take him somewhere fun. The Kennel staff will be sorry to see him go because it is such a pleasure to see what a quick learner he is and what a special friend he has turned out to be in such a short period of time. However, he deserves a family of his own. |
