About Duke: Duke is a great big boy! He currently weighs in at 65 lbs but could stand to gain a few. He is good with other dogs, but wants to play all the time. He would do best in a home with a female buddy. We are currently working on crate training, and staying out of the garbage can! He would excel in obedience training and probably do well in agility also. 10-27 Update: Duke is a great boy, he is the peace keeper in his foster home, but he can also be dominant. 11-19 Update: Since being in foster care Duke has lost 10 pounds. He has been diagnosed with Babesia, a tick bourne parasite that until now has only been seen in pitbulls and greyhounds. For more information check out this link: https://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_babesia_infection_in_dogs.html . He is currently having treatment done for this and is doing fine with the Babesia. Although it has been discovered that he is not producing any red blood cells, and is currently undergoing diagnosing for this. Duke will not be available for adoption until he is completely well. Please say a prayer for him! Update 12-6-05: Duke is making wonderful progress! He's had 2 treatments for his Babesia, and his red blood cells are now rising! He's eating like a champ and has put on 5 pounds in a week! He's becoming quite animated, and likes to play and talk now! He's not doing well in his crate at all though. He gets very stressed. The only time he's in it is when no one is home. He would do best in a home with a submissive female. |
