About Maple: *Please note that even though Maple is listed as available it will be a few more weeks before she can be officially adopted.
Hi!
My name is Maple and I am about 1 year old. I was surrendered to LBR after my owners gave me away and then that person gave me to his disabled Grandmother who reached out to LBR because she couldn't handle me. She told LBR that I was aggressive and had separation anxiety. When the LBR volunteers came to evaluate me, they looked me over from head to tail. I didn't mind that at all. They noted that my ears were red and raw and saw 1 flea on me but that was really it. Then, they introduced me to another dog and I did react kinda badly. Lucky for me, 1 of the ladies was convinced that it wasn't "true aggression" but that something else was going on with me. Boy, was that an understatement! My new foster Mom and Dad immediately bathed me to get rid of those nasty fleas and that 1 flea turned into hundreds! They were shocked at how many of those little buggers were on me! Some of the bites were even infected! EEWWW! Then I really started to show how sick I was; I started vomiting and had bloody diarrhea. They took me to see the Doctor and was diagnosed with Parvovirus. They hospitalized me for about a week - that was rough - but I made it through the treatment. I lost some weight during that episode but am quickly regaining it now. So just after the battle with Parvo, I came down with a Bladder infection, then a problem with my neck, then I was spayed. It's just been 1 thing after another, which is why I'm really not available for adoption yet. My foster parents are nursing me back to health and working with me on my behavior. Now that I am feeling better I am much nicer to my foster Boxer siblings and am doing better in my crate while they're at work. I am really trying hard to get healthy and learn manners so I can find my forever home!
If you think I might be the companion for you, please fill out an adoption application because once I'm cleared medically I hope to be with my new, loving family to start my new life!
Looking forward to meeting you!
Love,
Maple
Hi, just an update on me, I am doing much better and am still working on socialization skills at the moment. I will meet with a trainer soon to help me. I have some crating separation anxiety issues, but I take a pill that helps me. I also have some food allergies, but my Foster Mom and Dad are trying real hard to figure out what is not agreeing with me. I hope to be available for adoption real soon!
Love, Maple
