About Piper: 9/07 Piper is one of the worst cases of abuse I've seen. Piper came into our local kennel as a stray, and totally emaciated. She is a small girl, weighing in at only 29 lbs. You can see every bone in her body. She is so skinny that she developed an abscess on her hip bone that ruptured from the rubing of her bone on the ground. She has very little muscle tone, if any. Currently, we are working on adding some much needed weight on this little princess. She is getting short daily walks to build up some muscle, she is getting all the food she wants and taking vitamins for some added nutrition. Piper is a 2 yr old flashy brindle little girl. She will not be ready for adoption until she has gained some weight and been spayed. Please check back to see how Piper develops! She is a real sweet heart despite what she's been through!
10/25 Update: Piper is doing great! She has made it through a terrible bought of kennel cough, she is up to 31 pounds, she is getting daily walks. She loves to be with people and is a total lap dog!

She now weighs 43 lbs. and looks like a much different dog than when she arrived at the shelter, however, she developed a urinary tract infection and had been unresponsive to the antibiotics her vets first prescribed several weeks ago. This should improve now that further tests reveal which antibiotics are most responsive. This girl is on her way to a full recovery and is eagerly awaiting for someone to offer her the love she's never had.
UPDATE 3/18/08 - PIPER'S ADOPTION IS PENDING!!! |
