If you were strolling through an animal shelter looking for a new family member
and you stumbled across this little guy, what breed of dog would you say he is? Let's
take size into consideration...he was 14" tall, about 20" long and weighed in at a whopping
10.5 lbs. Are you thinking a Boxer puppy maybe?? Just in really bad shape? Yeah, LBR did too.
That is, until he was examined by our veterinarian and we received the shock of our lives...he is actually
2 YEARS OLD! Now what do you think? Knowing that a standard two year old male boxer is between 23 and 25" tall
and typically weighs in at 60-70 lbs, you look at this guy and think given his size and age, he cannot be
a purebred Boxer so he must be a mix...possibly a Boston Terrier mix, right? That's what LBR thought, too,
but we were wrong! This extraordinary dog is named Vincent and he is now a "Forever Foster" with Lighthouse
Boxer Rescue. Click here to meet Vince and hear the rest of his story.

Lighthouse Boxer Rescue is starting a new program, giving people the opportunity to
"sponsor" a boxer if they are unable to adopt one or if they just love the breed and
want to help. We currently have one boxer in foster care that is behaviorally challenged
and therefore, hard to adopt.
The volunteers of LBR are true believers in the fact that animals are a product of their
environment. Whoever owned these dogs from puppyhood to adulthood are the ones that caused the
damage. It's not the fault of the dogs, which is why we are dedicated to them and will not put them
in harm's way or set them up to fail by adopting them out to people who do not possess the level
of handling that these dogs require. That's why we decided to start the "Sponsor a Boxer" fund. Donations
received from this fund will help pay for the ongoing obedience classes, food, toys, and medical bills.
Bosley, our current boxer in need of sponsoring, has been in foster care for over a year and is blossoming
into a wonderful dog. Please help us continue to help them by sponsoring him!

| Did you know that most lost dogs could make it home if only they had identification? Too many dogs are put to sleep each and every day because they have become separated from their owners. While tags are great they too can be lost with the simple removal of a collar. Lighthouse recommends microchipping your dog. This provides a permanent form of identification, and most shelters and vet's should be scanning any found dog for a chip. The chip is placed between the shoulder blades by giving a simple injection. When the chip is scanned a number comes up that identifies your dog. A simple call to the microchip company and your dog is home with you!
All Lighthouse Boxer Rescue's foster dogs are microchipped! Contact us to learn more. |
| Lighthouse believes in recycling! Save us your aluminum cans and your old inkjet cartridges to recycle! Not only does this help the environment, but we also receive cash for doing this! All proceeds made from these go directly to the boxers! You can stop by any of our many meet & greets to drop them off. But wait there's more!!!
Lighthouse has recently signed up with Donation Line. Now you can donate your car, boat, jet ski or snow mobile and help support LBR! Visit www.donationline.com, make sure to select Lighthouse from the drop down list. |
| Check out the new site! One of our wonderful volunteers has been working very hard to update this site for us, she has done an excellent job! You can purchase new Lighthouse merchandise and clothes from here! All proceeds go to the boxers!
